“These are divisive and difficult times for many of us, which made finding a non-profit like A Sense of Home (ASOH) all the more meaningful to me.
On Tuesday, a dozen friends and some of their kids joined me and the ASOH staff at the North Hills apartment of an “aged out” foster youth named Kristy. Over the next few hours, we transformed her bare apartment into an inviting and cozy home. It wasn’t just about the furnishings, though. It was about people leading with their hearts and coming together for the benefit of someone in need in our community. Kristy is a lovely young woman who works as a certified nurse assistant, lately in hospice care. No matter what happens in her future, she will always have the example of people coming together to support her in an important and meaningful way. To those of you who contributed to my fundraiser, you not only enabled this “housewarming” to happen, but your funds will provide ongoing support to an organization that employs “aged out” foster youth who work tirelessly to make a real difference in an often forgotten corner of our population. The community of love and support they have developed is beautiful to see.”
