A beautiful loving community ensured A Sense of Home has continued to serve during the pandemic.
ASOH was among the first non-profits to cease in-person operations on March 11th, the very hour the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic. We quickly adapted and continued to serve even more vigorously and passionately than ever before. We have continued to create homes on pace with previous years and by the end of the year, we will have outpaced all other years. We are currently creating 5 homes per week.
ASOH’s initial response to the pandemic, as frontline workers, is best captured in this special news report by the LA Times and Spectrum News as well as in this evening news report on Fox. A particularly inspiring and very recent evening news report captures how ASOH continues to support and champion the youth long after their homes have been created.
ASOH has embraced these challenging times to become even more efficient and implement more ways to empower the young people we serve and the community that passionately supports the work we do. With safety in mind, we innovated the “warehouse home creation” to continue to create homes during the pandemic and keep up with the exponential demand. Here is how we create homes in the warehouse in only 90 minutes.
We have at least 50 of these homes to create for more than 100 young people for the holidays. Please join us in making this possible by donating now. WATCH what creating a home for the holiday means. AOSH has many new offerings for volunteers to contribute their expertise, passion and humanity — while staying safer at home. New opportunities and pages on our website list all the ways a volunteer can participate. A custom guide for parents is located here. A guide on how volunteers are able to host a furniture and home goods drive is here. All volunteer activities are listed here.
As we look back at our short history and how far we have come, we are so excited to share our humanity accelerator model with the world. We have completed building the ASOH App and begun utilizing it in-house. ASOH plans to begin opening chapters in 2021 within neighboring counties and then throughout the country. Simultaneously, we will license out our model and software to any organization serving homeless and/or displaced persons anywhere in the world. We are excited for the ASOH model to help with the healing that the nation and world so desperately needs right now. We are so honored and humbled that you are joining us, as we expand, grow and change lives in loving action.
