Amy Favat is originally an East Coaster from Boston who spent the majority of her career in the advertising business as an Executive Producer at Arnold Worldwide, one of the most awarded ad agencies in the world. Amy’s work was awarded internationally from numerous Cannes Lions, to a television Emmy, as well as having one piece of her work permanently on exhibit at the MOMA in New York. She also worked for two years creating a documentary film that was the first short film to premiere on the MTV network doc-series True Life.
At the height of her career, Amy decided to retire from the ad world in order to raise her two young step-children alongside her husband as well as to fully dedicate her time and efforts to the nonprofit sector. In 2008 Amy did over 100 hours of trauma informed training and became an active volunteer at the non-profit REACH Beyond Domestic Violence in Boston which provided support services and housing for domestic violence survivors. There she served on the Board of Directors, and she also worked on the annual fundraising gala committee. Amy worked with REACH from 2008-2013.
In 2013 Amy’s husband got a job opportunity in LA and the family moved west. Once in LA, Amy started working as a volunteer at Safe Place for Youth and she also served on the Board of Directors, and the gala fundraising committee, until 2024. In 2014 Amy co-created the project 100 Pieces – a silent art auction and cocktail party. The mission: Creativity for good. At this event an art gallery is built for one night on a 10,000 square foot stage and art submissions are open to all with 100% of the art sales going to prevent youth homelessness. Over the years this event has raised over $300,000 and 2025 will be its sixth year – benefiting A Sense of Home.
In 2017, Amy launched the initiative Lost & Found with the strategy to collect left behind items at LA gyms to give them a second life with folks in need at SPY. Clothing items are collected, cleaned, and delivered by a team of volunteers every month. Amy has also been working as an active career mentor to a young woman who has lived experience of being unhoused since 2019.
During the LA fires in 2025, Amy, along with her daughter, became the co-creator of the grassroots enterprise, The Venice Giving Garage. The strategy was to quickly set up a safe and calm space for folks impacted by the LA fires. People displaced and in need had easy access to new clothing and new hygiene essentials that they needed every day from January – March of 2025, with over 500 families being assisted. Lastly, since it’s start up by a dear friend during Covid in 2020, Amy has also worked with Nourish LA, a non-profit weekly drive through food pantry to help those impacted by food insecurity.
Amy is thrilled to be on the Los Angeles Advisory Board for A Sense of Home. It has always been Amy’s focus to shine a strong light on those who are impacted by the foster care system and homelessness in order to get individuals engaged and actively inspired to be part of the solution.
