Ambassador Nicole Avant graduated in 1984 from the California State University, Northridge with a B.A. in communications and enjoyed a successful career in the music business. Avant was appointed United States Ambassador to the Bahamas by President Barack Obama on June 16, 2009 and served until November 21, 2011. Avant is highly awarded for her grassroots community-building work and philanthropy. Avant produced the 2019 documentary The Black Godfather. Ambassador Nicole Avant was the very first donor and supporter of ASOH.
