IF YOU TEST POSITIVE OR HAVE SYMPTOMS

Regardless of your vaccination status or infection history:

  • Isolate for at least 5 days
  • Sleep and stay in a separate room from those not infected
  • Use a separate bathroom if you can
  • Wear a mask around others, even at home
  • Get tested (antigen preferred) on Day 5
  • End isolation on Day 6 if:
    • You test negative, AND
    • Have no fever for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication, AND
    • Your other symptoms are gone or going
  • End isolation on Day 10 if:
    • You test positive on Day 5 or don’t test, AND
    • You have no fever for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication
  • If you still have a fever, continue to isolate until it’s been gone for 24 hours
  • After you recover, wear a mask around others for 10 full days after the start of symptoms or your positive test

For children who test positive:

  • Children under 2 can end isolation on Day 6 without a negative test
  • Children 2 years and older should follow the steps above for ending isolation

How do I enroll?

  • Contact your ILP/Transition Coordinator. If you have an open DCFS or Probation case, you have an assigned ILP/Transition Coordinator.   • Complete a Transitional Independent Living Plan (TILP). The TILP is the form where you write down the goals you want to achieve over the next six months, the steps needed to be taken to achieve those goals, and who is going to help you do that. The TILP is also the form where you tell us what ILP services you need. If you have an open DCFS or Probation case, you and your CSW or Probation staff should be completing your TILP at least every six months. If your case is closed, contact the closest ILP/Transition Coordinator and he or she can help you complete your TILP.

The Coordinated Entry System (CES) facilitates the coordination and management of Los Angeles County’s crisis response system’s resources that allows users to make data-informed decisions from available information to efficiently and effectively connect people to interventions that will rapidly end their homelessness. Best Friends Animal Society in LA volunteer opportunities:

  • Pet Lifesaving Centers: The Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Mission Hills features over 250 cats and dogs available for adoption from LA Animal Services. The NKLA Pet Adoption Center in West L.A. features over 100 cats and dogs available for adoption from our Best Friends adoption program and our coalition partners. The Jefferson Park Pet Resource Center in South LA works with treating and socializing our ringworm and working cat populations. You can help with a variety of tasks from animal care to cleaning.

  • Kitten Care Program: The kittens at the Best Friends Kitten Care Program rely on hundreds of volunteers to provide them with around-the-clock care. There’s bottle-feeding every two hours, food preparation, socialization and more.
  • Community Outreach: Outreach Ambassadors are volunteers who attend a variety of events as representatives of Best Friends. Ambassadors are confident, friendly and comfortable talking about the Best Friends mission and current programs/services in place to help the community. This is an exciting opportunity to engage with the community and spread awareness about our various lifesaving initiatives!
  • NKLA Super Adoption Weekend: At the NKLA Super Adoption Weekend, dozens of Southern California NKLA Coalition partners, rescue groups and shelters feature about 1,000 of their adoptable pets. That means about 500 volunteers are needed to help make the event a success.
  • Strut Your Mutt: Strut Your Mutt is our largest fundraiser for local rescue groups, shelters, spay/neuter clinics and more. Volunteers are needed for a number of different shifts throughout the event, including set-up the day before and tear down after the event ends.
